I would love to go Canada. The closest we got was a day visit to Niagra Falls, but it's on my list of place and thanks to Sandy I think Ontario will be one of the first stops.

Summer is the unofficial season of road trips, and with city life, historic sites, sandy coastline, amusement parks and more, Ontario is one of Canada’s favorite provinces for cruising the open road. And whether you’ll be hitting the roads with the top down in your convertible or living life on the road in your RV, you won’t want to miss a visit to some of these unforgettable Ontario road trip stops.

Visit Canada’s Wonderland, Vaughan, Ontario

No summer is complete without a trip to Canada’s Wonderland  -- the largest amusement park in the country and one of the most recognized in the world. With over 68 gut-wrenching thrill rides and well over 100 less terrifying ones for the whole family, you’ll be glad you took a day off the road the moment you step inside the park gates.

Explore the Country’s Capital, Ottawa, Ontario

While a visit to the country’s capital can certainly be educational, that doesn’t mean its going to be boring. With the Canadian Tulip Festival happening in Ottawa throughout the month of May and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival  at the end of June, there’s almost always an excuse to visit the capital city in summertime. And if you do feel like learning a little something in this season away from school, the Canadian Museum of Nature, Canadian Museum of History, Canada Aviation and Space Museum, the Bytown Museum and a wide variety of other Ottawa attractions offer exciting summer exhibits for kids and adults alike.

Cross the Border, Niagara Falls, Ontario

Whether it’s your first visit to Niagara Falls or your 100th, prepare to be amazed by the wonders of nature as well as some of Niagara Falls’ greatest new man-made attractions. And while the hassles of crossing borders may hold you back from crossing the Niagara Gorge into the United States by car, you can actually ditch your vehicle and walk across the border instead.

Crossing into the Niagara Falls State Park will be an experience you never forget. From the new Cave of the Winds tour offering thrilling attractions to the Niagara Scenic Trolley and the Niagara Falls Maid of the Mist boat tour, there always something new, exciting and absolutely thrilling to experience at Niagara Falls State Park.

Relax on the Beach, Pelee Island, Ontario

No summer road trip is complete without a trip to the beach, and there’s no better place to sink your toes into the sand than Canada’s southernmost point - Pelee Island. Park your RV at the Anchor and Wheel family campground, rent a romantic cottage or enjoy the charm of a local bed and breakfast - wherever you stay on Pelee Island, you’re guaranteed to take in the breathtaking natural sights, sounds and smells of this serene island just 20 kilometers from the mainland.

While Sandy lives in Vancouver she has been holidaying in Ontario as far back as she can remember. She loves road trips and will always make room to squeeze in national travel before international.
