How To Apply For A Canadian Visa

TWB proudly presents...

I almost got caught out with Canada's new ETA system, and was glad I could find handy info like this to make my entry much easier.

Are you interested in traveling to Canada at some point or another? If you’re an American, you’ll definitely want to visit your neighbors to the north. After all, there are tons of reasons to do so. After all, Canada is home to some of the most gorgeous landscapes and the most stunning lakes. Plus, the population is very diverse. Regardless of your nationality, you can guarantee that you’re going to feel comfortable in Canada. Just remember that you’re going to need a Canadian visa. The process of getting your Canadian visa will be explored in greater depth below.

Do You Need A Visa?

First and foremost, you should determine whether or not you even need a visa. The truth of the matter is that some people will not. United States residents will be able to enter Canada without a visa. However, if you reside in another country, you’re probably going to need a visit. You can visit the official website of the Government of Canada and complete the form to determine what documentation is needed.

The ETA

Several years ago, the Canadian government implemented a new set of rules for travelers. Now, there are many tourists who are going to need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization to enter Canada. The ETA is only required for people visiting via air from a few specific countries. Australians will need an ETA and many others will as well. If you need to obtain an ETA, you can click this link to learn more.

Applying For A Visitor Visa Online

When you’re ready to acquire your visa, it is easiest to do so online. Head to the official website of the Canadian government and check your eligibility. Even if you’re eligible, you still might not receive approval. The form will need information, such as the length of your trip, martial status and where you’re traveling from. Once you’ve confirmed that you’re eligible, it is time to gather your documents. You’re probably going to need a passport and details about your travel plans. You may also need to get a physical. Be sure to make a copy of the appointment, because you’ll probably need it.

You may also need the following items.

  • Proof of income
  • Family information
  • Travel history

Additional information may be required for some tourists.

Photo And Print

Once everything has been provided, you’re going to need to provide the government with a photograph of yourself. After all, you need to make sure that your visa is actually users. You’ll need a photograph that is 420 pixels by 540 pixels or higher. It will need to be in JPEG format. You’ll also need to provide a fee. The fee can change periodically. However, it is usually around 100 Canadian dollars. Once the fee has been paid and your application has been processed, you’ll be provided with your visa. You may also be required to send your password into the government.

After that, you’ll be able to print your visa. Or, you may need to wait for it to arrive in the mail. Either way, the process isn’t too tough and you should be able to complete it on your own.
