Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
June - July 2012
We visited KL for the first time last year and I fell in love with the shopping and the city, while Josh fell in love with the islands. Add those two things together with cheap accommodation and food and we knew this would be a destination we would love to live in.
Kuala Lumpur is the federal capital and most populous city in Malaysia. The city covers an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.6 million as of 2012. Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.2 million. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in the country, in terms of population and economy.
April 2014
We had only 3 days to spend in one of our favourite cities in the world on the way to Malta.

What Is It About Elephants? Kuala Ghanda Elephant Sanctuary
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Our visit to Deerland, Kuala Ghanda & Chamang Waterfalls. As I stepped into the warm water, I could not see the bottom. The water was brown, who knew what was in there other than the floating missiles from the elephant? But as I jumped on top of little Alam, the elephant and sat on his bare back and people splashed us and cheered I could only be in that moment. I sat bareback and could feel his skin on mine. I came down low and hugged his neck.

Dentists, Fear & Therapy
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
None of us sees the world as it is because we can only see it through our lens. In a sense, we're all delusional. If you believe that everything happens for a reason, you must find that reason and turn those experiences that threaten to detonate in your life into a useful energy source that empowers you and others. How does my daughter view her birth? The dentist? Her fears?

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
If you have kids, KidZania is a must. KidZania currently operates in 10 locations around the world. The Kuala Lumpur one opened in June 2012 and is located at The Curve shopping centre. Once inside children “work” in adult jobs and earn currency. It is a child-sized replica of a real city, including buildings, shops and theaters, as well as vehicles and pedestrians moving along its streets. It is a little world for little people.

Batu Caves & Scary Monkeys
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
As I faced down the monkey who finally shifted his greedy eyes from my daughter’s ice-cream to me I knew one thing – if anyone was getting bitten it was me. Teeth barred a hiss escaped his lips, while mine was more like a “shoo, shoo.” Finally as he stepped towards me, the Indian shopkeeper came running, yelling and waving his arms at the monkey. Giving one last hiss the hairy, big-balled creature retreated back down the stairs. We stepped back into the shadows and the safe arms of the Indian’s little shop.
