When adding up the cost of a holiday, it's easy to overlook the cost of parking your car at the airport. We've learned the hard way. Kai has some great tips here...
Holidays are already expensive at is, with the cost of flights and all the hidden extras such as choosing your seats and checking your luggage, the last thing you need is the additional cost of airport parking. However, taking your own car to the airport can save you a lot of worry and hassle in comparison to relying upon a taxi driver or public transport to get you there on time. Here’s how to get your airport parking at a lower cost.

Compare Prices
There are plenty of websites which allow you to compare prices of airport parking. This will allow you to find the cheapest available airport parking option for your holiday dates. Some comparison websites will find you long-stay car parking options nearby for cheaper rates. However, you should be careful when choosing to park your car in a private carpark. Make sure that it’s secure before you leave your car there. If you haven’t already booked your flights, you could even use the comparison website to factor in your airport choice based upon the cost of parking.
Book Early
The earlier you book your airport parking, the cheaper it will be. So don’t leave it until the last minute. Booking in advance can save you a considerable amount of money. Airport parking prices have a tendency to fluctuate, unfortunately, you can always expect to pay more in the busiest holiday season between July and August. However, booking well in advance can still reduce the cost. The latest you can leave it is 24 or 48 hours in advance, depending on the airport, or you’ll end up paying the most expensive drive-up rate.
Get a Hotel and Parking Deal
If you have a flight which is very late at night or very early in the morning, it can be worthwhile to book a stay at the airports hotel with parking included. This takes the hassle out of travelling on very little sleep and usually works out to be much cheaper than booking each part of your airport stay separately. Don’t forget that some airports also charge for their transfer service between the hotel and the airport terminal, so factor this in when you are planning your holiday.

Find a Discount Code
The internet is amazing when it comes to finding online deals and discounts. A quick Google search could help you to save a lot of money. There are a number of sites which provide discount codes for a variety of airports, so you might just be in luck and find something to suit your airport parking needs. Some holiday agents will also offer discounted parking as an incentive to book with them, so look out for this when you are booking your holiday. Some even go as far as offering a price match guarantee. So, if you find a great deal elsewhere, let them know and see if you can arrange a package with them which is much better value!
