Who doesn't love Four Wheel Driving? It's a fabulous sport even with a family and Australia has some of the best drives you will find. Have you done any of these?

If you are looking for an exciting and unforgettable outdoors experience, a 4 wheel drive adventure road trip can be exactly the thing you need. Climbing into the front seat of a fully equipped Land Rover and setting out through the wilderness is a timelessly exciting experience that cannot be replicated in any other way.

Whether you are planning your very first trip or you are a seasoned off road veteran, there are numerous fantastic options for you to take a Land Rover out into the great outback and make a memorable time of it with your friends and family.

Speaking of Land Rover did you know they are giving away an experience that’s truly out of this world! You and three friends will fly into space with Virgin Galactic. SPACE! Might not be the 4WD adventure you thought of, but it certainly will be an adventure.

The Gibb River Road

This is probably Australia’s most famous four-wheel drive adventure trail, located just south of the Drysdale National Park and connecting the municipalities of Derby and Wyndham.

The Gibb River Road offers spectacular views of natural scene and geological formations unique to this part of the world, as well as areas of historical importance to the aboriginal and pastoral cultures that call them their home. There are a large number of attractions situated along the road, including several high-profile gorges, several national parks and the King Leopold Ranges.

Red Centre Way

If you would like to travel through one of Australia’s finest desert areas, Red Centre Way is a great choice for your adventure road trip. This is a 5-day driving adventure that starts and ends in Alice Springs.

Red Centre Way is formed in a loop that lets you cross many of the most beautiful scenes in Central Australia, including the dramatic West MacDonnell Ranges and several national icons like Uluru, Kings Canton, and Kata Tjuta National Park. Each one of these areas features their own attractions, stops and breathtaking scenic views.

Adelaide – Darwin

The trip between Adelaide and Darwin is a fantastic 4 wheel drive adventure trip that makes an ideal 11-day journey with you, your friends and family, and your Land Rover. This particular route traces John McDouall Stuart's trail along the Explorers Highway.

Primary attractions along the way include the cellars of the famous Barossa Valley wine-making region, the Wilpena Pound and the Flinders Ranges. You can even spend a night in the Cooper Pedy town that seems to be made of opal, playing golf with illuminated balls by the light of the moon.

Nature’s Way

This fantastic cruise that starts and ends in Darwin takes you through the Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks on a looped stretch of highway. Aboriginal rock art galleries and bushwalking sites remain some of the best attractions available along this road.

Lake Eyre

If you would like to enjoy the rare oasis of a drying lakebed in the center of the Australian outback, Lake Eyre is the place for you. Camping in the park is an otherworldly experience and, if the lake is sufficiently filled, you can also enjoy the spectacular scenery by boat while you are there.
