Ireland
October 2013
This little country stole my heart with it's multiple shades of green, it's roaming animals and charming accents. What started out as a week stop for a travel conference became a month of craic!
We spent a week in Dublin, followed by a short press trip to Galway, then a 2 week road trip around the entire countryside, finishing with our very first housesitting gig on a farm near Kildare.

The Cliffs Of Moher AKA The Princess Bride’s Cliffs Of Insanity
Ireland
The icy wind is wildly rushing past me, as I tiptoe closer to the edge. Far below waves crash like orchestral cymbals against the jagged cliffs with a deep, reverberating pounding that could almost be felt under my feet. It’s acutely cold and I shiver as I inch even closer to the perilous edge. Come visit the Cliffs of Moher with us AKA the Cliffs of Insanity from Princess Bride or the Horcrux Cave from Harry Potter.

A Travelling Mum Without Her Family In Ireland: Day 2
Ireland
Despite not having any kids or husband to wake me up in the morning I still had a reasonably early morning – bummer! I was able to get dressed so quickly without two little ones to dress and a husband to hurry. That was relatively novel, but I missed their climbing on me and my morning cuddle. I also decided I needed to call them at first opportunity and tell them I missed them and loved them. Whenever that might be.

Erin was gone. It was just Miss 4 and Mr 3 with me for 3 whole days. No sweat, I was a very capable, hands-on dad. But this time it was different. A Travelling Mum Without Her Family In Ireland: Prelude
Ireland
I didn’t know it would be like this. I pottered around my room, turning over a brochure on the table, playing with the lamp fringe, blowing my hair out my face. I toddled over to the table for some chocolate and water, reading the thank you card from the hotel and sunk into a rich, plush lounge. What was I suppose to do with myself? Alone in a hotel room at dinnertime. No one to feed, no one to shower, no one to tuck into bed. I looked out the window feeling slightly melancholy before an exuberant joy started to fill me. I was ALONE in a hotel room. I jumped from my chair and flung myself backwards on the bed, a whole king size bed just for me. Weeeeeeeee!
