This is one of the most popular things to do in Prague for first-time visitors.
And this is not just any old medieval-themed dinner. It’s a highly engaging performance featuring swashbuckling pirates, sexy belly dancers, lively musicians and fearless fire eaters. Oh, and there’s food too.
Here’s everything you need to know on how to book the cheapest tickets for the Prague Medieval Dinner, and what to expect, so you have a memorable night that will be the highlight of your vacation in Prague.
All About the Prague Medieval Dinner
For a few hours each evening, guests are thrown back in time to the 14th century, for a rustic dinner in an underground candlelit cellar lined with wooden tables and benches.
Hearty Czech cuisine is served, including dishes like roasted pork and traditional pancakes filled with spinach and garlic. Fortunately, they also cater to a range of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. For meat eaters, the main course options include pork, poultry or fish.
There are 2 shows to choose from:
1) an early performance at 5pm that runs for 2 hours (only Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) which offers a 3-course meal (soup, main course, and dessert); or
2) the main performance, which runs every day at 8pm for 2.5 hours and includes 5 courses (cold starter, soup, warm appetizer, main course, and dessert).
Both options include dinner, unlimited drinks (beer, wine, soft drink), and live entertainment.
I went to the 8pm seating and highly recommend that, although the early seating is cheaper if you’re on a tight budget.
The atmosphere was constantly buzzing thanks to a team of skilled belly dancers jiggling to Arabic tunes, live musicians (including drums and bagpipes), jesters, and pirates having sword fights set against the theme song of Pirates of the Caribbean (don’t tell Jerry Bruckheimer!).
Performers move throughout the restaurant, so all tables will get a good view.
Where to Buy Cheapest Tickets for Prague Medieval Dinner
Since this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Prague, it’s best to book in advance rather than leave it to the last minute and risk missing out.
I booked my ticket on GetYourGuide, which offers the cheapest price AND free cancellation policy if your plans change. Not to mention, fast, safe online payment and instant confirmation.
There are other ticket resellers, but they can’t match the price or free cancellation policy. So just save your time and go with GetYourGuide. Here's a widget where you can check the latest price without even leaving this article!

How to get to Prague Medieval Dinner
The name of the medieval restaurant that holds this themed dinner is “Krčma U Pavouka”, and unfortunately, it’s not the easiest place to find. Here’s the exact Google Map location – please note that the signage isn’t the best.
You’ll reach there on foot, walking down the pedestrian road called “Celetná” in Prague's old town. Look for this sign:
And then underneath is an arched laneway with the yellow sign “U Pavouka”. This is the meeting point and main entrance to the underground restaurant.
Tip: The nearest subway station is “Náměstí Republiky” which is a 4-minute walk (300 metres).
Essential Tips
Now that you know what to expect and where to get the cheapest tickets, here are my other essential tips to ensure your night goes smoothly.
- This is a “restaurant”, but not the kind that you can turn up at any time. It’s only open for performances at fixed times each day.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early (they recommend 30 minutes). Your name should be on the guest list if you’ve booked your ticket in advance. The sooner you arrive, the better chance of getting seated at a prime table.
- Make the most of the unlimited drinks. Once your beer or soft drink runs out, you may need to flag down one of the waitstaff for a refill. You paid for it, so get your money’s worth!
- Take videos of some of the show – but also watch it in real life too with the camera in your pocket. Because it’s dark, smartphone cameras might not take the best still photos of fast action – video is better.
- Bring a light jacket or sweater. It can get cold in the underground medieval tavern. And if you have the flexibility to remove (or add) an extra layer, you’ll be glad you planned ahead.
- If you’re travelling solo or as a couple/friends, you are likely to be grouped at a larger table, fitting 6 people. It’s a great way to meet fellow travellers and make new friends.
- If you choose different menus, but the reservation is under the same name, you’re supposed to be seated at the same table – but it’s best to arrive early to make sure.
- A photographer will go around from table to table, taking group shots. You’ll be given an opportunity to buy a photo later. Or, if you’re sneaky, take a snap of the professional print with your smartphone.
- Expect large portion sizes… this is medieval style! So bring a hungry tummy.
That’s it! You’re now ready to go. Get your tickets for the Prague Medieval Dinner now.
