TWB proudly presents...

Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the seven Canary Islands; it is also the most populated island of Spain. We will be missing this event by only days, as we head to Spain in October, but it sounds like a real sweet time! If I can't make the event, the Siam Park sounds great for our kids.

2013 sees the 5th anniversary of One Big Getaway in Tenerife, taking place from 5th – 12th September in Playa de Las Americas this year. Expect the very best clubland brands and music for 6 days and nights of non-stop partying!

Highlights

This year sees a pool party, beach party, foam party and the ever-popular boat party plus some exclusive surprise parties just for this year. Brands confirmed this year so far include:

  • Superbad
  • Funkybass
  • AWOL
  • Freak
  • Insomnia
  • One Religion

And many more! You can buy a One Big Getaway Wristband online which will not only give you free entrance to all the pre-parties and exclusive main events, but also entitles you to discount on drinks and food at various local venues – a great deal if ever there was one! Parties take place at a different super club each night, so expect to visit venues such as Tramps and El Faro. It’s up to you whether you want to book a full holiday package including your flights, accommodation and wristband, or organise your own flights and accommodation in Playa de las Americas.

Getting There

Tenerife is easily accessible from the UK, and for the lowest cost flights, choose Monarch, EasyJet or Ryanair. With a flight time of around 4 hours from London and flights starting at around £54 each way, you can party this summer for a great price! Hunt down great deals on last minute hotels online, or for ultimate flexibility, club together with friends and book a self-catering apartment for the week, so you can come and go as you please no matter how late you’re partying.

Things to See and Do

There are plenty of excursions and tours to keep you busy during your break, if you’re not too tired after all that dancing! Booking in advance online will not only help you to save money on your holiday, but it means you won’t risk missing out on some of the best things to see and do in the area. No holiday in Tenerife is complete without sampling some traditional Spanish tapas – little appetisers or snacks served alongside drinks. Whilst the restaurants in Playa de las Americas cater mostly to the British and American crowds, nearby Torviscas is home to some authentic Spanish tapas restaurants, serving paella, chorizo and tasty patatas bravas – a great spot for a romantic meal or some nibbles with friends before a night out.

Chances are, you’ll be looking to cool off at some point during your holiday, and where better to do so than at the Thai-themed Siam Park. This huge waterpark features white-knuckle rides including the Tower of Power and Mekong Rapids, and it only takes about 10 minutes to get here on foot (there’s also a regular shuttle bus if you’re feeling lazy). If you’re not feeling too brave, check out the sea lions, enjoy the floating market or enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants.

Leave the Resort Behind

If you’re looking for a peaceful day out after the fun of One Big Getaway, then take off on a 4 x 4 and camel safari and leave Playa de las Americas behind. Head to rustic, whitewashed Vilaflor and Mount Teide, a 12,000 foot tall volcano which offers spectacular views over the area.

Tenerife is a great place to party this summer, and the hottest destination to be in September, for One Big Getaway. So gather your friends, raid your savings accounts and get booking your flights and accommodation, because this year in Playa de las Americas is set to be the best yet!

Robert Plum is a British Expat living in Spain. He loves to party on weekends and while it may not always involve travelling to a new country and seeing the night life, it most certainly will involve discovering a new theme park.
